Exploring the East Coast and beyond
Trip guides, hosting tips, and beach reads – for anyone who builds their life around salt air, weekend adventures, and the occasional oyster happy hour.

Hi, I’m Kelly!
I’ve lived up and down the East Coast for most of my life, and these days I’m lucky to call Alexandria, Virginia home. It’s the perfect home base – close enough for weekend road trips and coastal getaways, easy enough to catch a red eye when the destination’s farther out.
While I’m happiest sneaking away for a weekend by the beach, I love hosting just as much – entertaining like Ina Garten and Martha Stewart. I also run The Sweet & Salty Book Club, where we read a beach read every month.
This is where I share all of it – the trip guides, hosting tips, and book club picks for anyone who plans everything – vacations, weekends, even a random Tuesday – around the water.
I share weekly updates on the Oyster Reef, my weekly newsletter – jump on in, the water’s fine!
From sea-sprayed hydrangeas to swaying palm trees – as long as you’re near the water, it’s a dream getaway.

Whether it’s a weekend escape a few hours from DC or a flight-worthy trip to the islands, I’m chasing the same thing: somewhere near the water with a great oyster happy hour.
I plan every trip like I’m hosting – itinerary and all. Where to eat, where to stay, what’s actually worth the drive. Not just pretty photos, the practical stuff too.
Whether you’re looking for a tropical seaside escape to the Bahamas or a quintessential New England coastal getaway, you’ll find your next waterfront destination here.
From snorkeling spots to small-space hosting tricks, this is where I keep everything I’ve learned – so you can skip the guesswork and get straight to the good part.
Soon you’ll be basking under the warm sun, feeling a salty onshore breeze, an ice cold drink in hand – explore the Destinations tab to find your next coastal getaway.
